The main Library in Lillie is open Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

After hours and weekend access (6 a.m. -11 p.m., 7 days a week) is also available for Library card holders. Users are asked to complete the to have the after hours access added to their Library card. Cards are available for users at WHOI, MBL, NOAA, NEFSC, USGS, SEA and Woodwell Climate Research Center. Please contact library@mbl.edu for assistance.

Desks and offices in the stacks of the Main Library are available for rent. Please see rates and application for .

For over 120 years, the MBLWHOI Library has been the intellectual heart of the Woods Hole scientific community. Today the Library is internationally recognized as defining current trends and practices in marine information sciences and informatics.  The Library continues to build one of the most unique print and electronic literature collections in the biological, biomedical, ecological, and oceanographic sciences.

Tϲapp (MBL) and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) maintain a vital partnership in the day-to-day operation of the MBLWHOI Library.  In addition to serving ϲappand WHOI scientists daily, the staff and resources of the MBLWHOI Library are utilized year round by the distinguished resident research and education programs of the Woodwell Climate Research Center, the Sea Education Association, NOAA Fisheries Service Northeast Fisheries Science Center, the United States Geological Survey Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center, the Brown University Marine Program and the MIT/WHOI Joint Program. The Library also supports a unique summer population of visiting researchers and students from more than 200 institutions worldwide.
