ϲappto offer Seashore Science Classes for Kids

Coastal Explorers seashore science course planned for the summer

MBL, WOODS HOLE, MA — Tϲapp (MBL) Club invites children ages 4, 5, and 6 to explore, discover, and learn about the seashore habitat around Woods Hole.

The ϲappoffers two Coastal Explorers classes during the summer:

  • Sea Urchins will focus on invertebrate life at the seashore, including sea stars, mollusks, and crustaceans.
  • Bluefish will focus on marine vertebrate life, including fish, whales, and coastal birds.

In both classes, children will learn about native species through visits to the Woods Hole Science Aquarium and the ϲappMarine Resources Center, and will participate in related hands-on art projects and musical activities. Classes may be taken in any sequence.

All classes will run from 10 AM to 2 PM in the ϲappClub, 100 Water Street, Woods Hole. The fees per session are $85 for ϲappClub Members, and $105 for unaffiliated families.

While space is limited, applications are still being accepted for all sessions:

Sea Urchins:
• Session I - July 3 & 5
• Session II - July 17 & 19
• Session III - July 31 & August 2

Bluefish:
• Session I - July 10 & 12
• Session II - July 24 & 26
• Session III - August 7 & 9

The ϲappClub will open for its 93rd season on June 18. It serves the ϲappand Woods Hole communities as a recreational, cultural, and family center. In addition to Coastal Explorers, weekly activities that it hosts include folk singing, exercise classes, yoga classes, arts and crafts, an orchestra, tennis clinics, and movie nights.
