Introducing Nipam Patel: Director, Marine Biological Laboratory
On September 4, 2018, Nipam Patel became Director of tϲapp and a Professor at the University of Chicago.
Prior to his appointment as Director, Patel was Professor and Co-chair of the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology and Professor in the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. His scientific expertise encompasses the development of novel, genetic model organisms for biological study, which can reveal much about human biology; and the application of advanced imaging technologies to probe the fundamental dynamics of living systems.
A longtime member of the ϲappcommunity, Patel has taught in the ϲappEmbryology course for the last 18 years and served as course co-director from 2007 to 2011.
